Audio Antihero: Specialists in Commercial Suicide are an independent record label from South East London. All hope has been abandoned.
In 2009 we released Nosferatu D2’s astounding debut record. We were proud. We simultaneously met Benjamin Shaw – he gave us Pox. Then absolutely ages later we released more records as a part of our “2011 Commercial Suicide EP Series,” including releases from Jack Hayter, Broken Shoulder, Wartgore Hellsnicker, Paul Hawkins & The Awkward Silences and Fighting Kites. Plus another brilliant full-length release from Benjamin Shaw, charity compilations for Japan, FSID and Rape Crisis UK (featuring artists like Jeffrey Lewis, Darren Hayman, The Art Goblins, Johnny Foreigner, Internet Forever, Jonah’s onelinedrawing, Still Corners, BITCHES!, Ace Bushy Striptease and many more) and a year long singles series from Jack Hayter, the King of Folk and our resident celebrity. Then we went silent for ages and resurfaced with Cloud‘s “Comfort Songs” LP, only our third full-length album and the first American who was willing to go anywhere near me (other than my girlfriend). We had good times.
For better or worse, Audio Antihero and Nosferatu D2 have been a featured guest twice on BBC Radio; once in 2011 for BBC 6 Music’s “Introducing Show” with Tom Robinson and once in 2012 for BBC/PRI’s “The World” which aired all over North America (THE SUPER POWER).
Pretty famous, huh? We even have a Wikipedia page that’s not been deleted yet! SEE!
Additionally, against all odds, our releases have been covered in places like Drowned In Sound, Pitchfork, PRI, The Line Of Best Fit, BBC Radio 1, CLASH Music, This Is Fake DIY, Rolling Stone, XFM, The Quietus, Rough Trade/The Guardian and beyond. You still haven’t heard of us though.
